Queens wants BID to come to Jamaica

Crain's New York Business, April 28, 2003

Queens business leaders are working to create a business improvement district along Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens. The area includes the AirTrain Jamaica Terminal, which is under construction, the Long Island Rail Road headquarters, a LIRR station and several local courthouses, as well as shops and businesses.

The area is expected to experience a boom when the AirTrain to JFK International Airport is opened, and the BID is aimed at sprucing up the area to prepare for when that happens. An application is expected to be submitted to the city Department of Planning next month.
